Is the appraisal district valuing your home higher than similar homes nearby?

We compare appraisal district values — not sale prices. This page is who made the map, what it is, and what it isn’t. 2026 protest season is closed. Next: 2027 preliminary notices (typically April–May). Written for neighbors, not lawyers.

Notice vs certified

Preliminary · you can protest only while your notice deadline is open

Opening values for the year. The deadline is on your notice.

Certified · final · lookup only

Final values after protest season. Good for checking history. You cannot protest these.

What this is

A free map of houses in the Texas counties we cover. Each pin compares your home to 5 similar homes nearby, using the appraisal district’s own values. Tap a pin to open a report with those 5 homes and one number you could ask for when protest season is open.

One question: is my home valued higher than similar homes nearby?

What this isn’t

How we pick similar homes

We look for 5 nearby houses that are about the same size, about the same age, and in the same neighborhood. Then we compare your appraised value to the middle of those 5 — their values, not sale prices.

We check it two ways (by size, and by the total dollar amount) and use the stronger reading for the pin color.

If the whole street is valued low, you will look low too. This is a neighbor check, not a market-value appraisal.

Where the numbers come from

The map uses each county’s public appraisal files and parcel maps. We read them as published. Harris County’s files, for example, come from hcad.org/pdata. Street and satellite tiles are from Esri.

Values update when a county publishes a new certified roll, usually mid-year. The full county list is on the Counties page.

Privacy

No accounts. We never ask for your name, email, or parcel.

Opening the map may frame your region from your IP. That’s region-level only. The “locate me” button is the only thing that uses your precise location, and only if you tap it.

Owner names, addresses, and values on the map are already public at your appraisal district. We show the same records on a map.

Contact

Questions, a correction, or a similar home that doesn’t look right — write [email protected]. One person reads that inbox. Everything gets read.

Want something taken down? Everything here is already public at the appraisal district. If you believe your info should not appear, email that address with the account number.
